A Personal Update (and a new WrestleWar book!)

First things first, if you’re a somewhat regular reader of Retro Pro Wrestling, I apologize for new updates grinding to a standstill. This year has been a tough one for me, with a long stretch of poor mental health and personal setbacks.

As passionate as I am about chronicling the history of professional wrestling, and as much as wrestling has always been a great source of comfort to me, running this website takes a tremendous amount of work that I just haven’t had the energy for.

It wasn’t even like I had a financial incentive. The ads I used to run on this site generated literally pennies, so I’ve taken them off and now Retro Pro Wrestling is completely ad free (yay!).

Still, running this website costs me money in web hosting and domain fees, not to mention endless hours of work. Trust me, a labor of love is still labor.

With that being said, I’ve just published a short new review collection on Amazon, and I hope you’ll check it out.

WCW WrestleWar: The Complete Collection presents the case that this short-lived World Championship Wrestling event deserves to be held in the same reverence as its long-running shows such as Starrcade and Halloween Havoc.

As you’ll read, this was the event that gave us an all-time classic in Nature Boy Ric Flair and Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat – a match that’s still talked about today as one of the greatest matches in pro wrestling history.

WrestleWar also gave us two stellar WarGames matches, including one this writer considers *THE* very WarGames matches ever. It gave us some excellent tag team matches, the reign of The Dangerous Alliance, The Steiner Brothers at their very peak, and erm…. Norman The Lunatic.

if you’ve read any of my other Retro Pro Wrestling books -or even just this website- you’ll know the drill by now:

A review of every match, angle, and promo from every WCW WrestleWar show between 1989 and 1992, coupled with the occasional background history, terrible jokes, and all the rest.

The book is out now in eBook form for just $2.99, or free for Kindle Unlimited users. Hit the button below to check it out.
